Ahmibah, the owners of Sotogrande

Many people attended Santa María Polo Club to watch the final of the high goal Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup between Ayala and Ahmibah. Both teams met in the first qualifier round, and Ayala not only want to repeat the victory but also claim the title they won last year. But they had to face Ahmibah, winners of the two first tournaments of the Sotogrande Season, the Bronze Cup and the Silver Cup.

In the first minutes of the game, Ahmibah came stronger, led by an unstoppable Pablo MacDonough, who was in charge to open the score through a penalty from the spot. Pablo himself scored the second goal, after a good job by his team mates, taking the marks off him, which allowed him to shoot from 50 yards.

Ayala answered with two goals, from Iñigo Zobel and Pelon Stirling. The first chukker ended with a 2-2 tie.

Ahmibah extended their advantage in the second chukker with two goals courtesy of Pablo MacDonough and Iñaki Laprida. Next, Pelon Stirling scored a fantastic goal. He picked the ball and ran thoroghout the field straight to the posts.

In the third chukker, Pablo MacDonough, already the best player in the field, scored three more goals, as Ahmibah took a comfortable lead.

Pablo kept on going, he scored more goals in the fourth period to give Ahmibah a 10-5 lead. In the fifth chukker, Ayala, with goals from Pelon Stirling, cut the margin to 10-7, in favour fo Jeffri Bahar´s squad.

In the sixth chukker, a definetly brilliant Pablo MacDonough swept Ayala´s hopes to get closer, as he scored for a 11-7 lead. Ayala´s efforts and the goals from Gastón Urturi and Santiago Laborde weren´t enough to avoid Jeffri Bahar and his boys to become the owners of Sotogrande.
