Broncos claims Prince of Wales Trophy

Broncos and Zacara met to play the final of the Prince of Wales Trophy, held at Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club. Zacara presented a changes in its lineup. Juan Carlos Harriet filled in for Tom de Bruin. Besides, Javier Novillo Astrada came back, just recovered from an injury in his arm.

Broncos took a quick 2-0 lead at the start, with goals courtesy of Santiago Chavanne and Pablo Mac Donough, who just took command of midfield action for Broncos.

In the second chukka, Broncos took a 3-0 lead, but Zacara got closer in the score with two goals by Javier Novillo Astrada. His brother Eduardo was in charge of the three goals which gave Zacara a 5-3 lead in the third chukka, which ended with a 5-4 advantage for Lyndon Lea´s squad. In the fourth period Santiago Chavanne produced the 5-5 tie.

As Zacara got a 6-5 advantage in the fifth chukka, Broncos came stronger as Pablo MacDonough took the command of the action with three consecutive goals to give a 8-6 lead for Broncos. Zacara fought hard to score in the last chukka, but there was only one goal by Javier Novillo Astrada, and the final 8-7 result was sealed.

Pablo MacDonough had his big day, as he was named MVP and his mare, Cornelia, took BPP honors. And he will be playing the final of the Queen´s Cup on Sunday, filling in for injured Facundo Pieres in Ellerston.
