Cartier
wins the 22nd Polo World Cup on Snow in St Moritz
Over 10,000 spectators brimmed over with enthusiasm for the two top class
games.
Already before lunch time, at the game for 3rd and 4th place of Cartier
Polo World Cup on Snow, the grand stands were well occupied. In the afternoon
though, the infraestructure on frozen Lake St Moritz was bursting at the
seams.
The final game was spectacular, a fast, open and technically good game,
that was thrilling for the spectators to watch.
The British Johny Good led his team to the
victory
The two teams Cartier and Bank Hofmann with their handicap 7 and 8 players
were well-balanced and fought hardly. After Johnny Good's (UK) two very
fast goals right after his lightning start, no team could lead anymore
with more than one goal difference. Only a 5th chukker, the overtime with
the Sudden Death-rule, brought the decision, when, after some seconds,
the Australian Jack Baillieu decided the game for Team Cartier. So Team
Cartier with its captain Adriano Agosti, with Jaime Garcia Huidobro from
Chile, Baillieu from Australia and Good from England is celebrating another
victory in its own tournament, the handicap 22 level World Cup on Snow,
that also this year belongs to the World Polo Tour (WPT).
In view of all days, Cartier secured its title mainly because of it being
well balanced and the exception Johnny Good. He finally won the title
as Most Valuable Player of the tournament and was appointed as Best Scorer.
Brioni saved itself the 3rd place
In a hard-fought game for the AMG Cup and 3rd place between the teams
Brioni and Maybach, the top cracks from Argentina once again showed an
outsanding performance in the art of polo. On one side it was Piki Diaz
Alberdi, and on the other side the number 3 in the world, Eduardo Novillo
Astrada, who both shot two goals. Brioni finally was successful and won
the small final with 4-2.
